Your Eyes Your Eyes
Sidis... we have been together 4 years and played many shows, recorded much music, and just finished a new album (Oct 2004). Our sound could be described as soulful Indie pop-rock. Listen to a sample and let us know what you think. www.sidis.org
Band/artist history
2000-2002
It all happened so fast. I (Mark) placed an ad for a drummer and bass player in the recycler, and at a a few odd little web sites. The results, a few hits. When Brett called and scheduled a meeting at the Equator in Pasadena, neither of us knew exactly what to expect. When I met Brett he was in college at APU. Looking for a part time band to have fun with but nothing to serious. After a nice chat with him we both concluded that we would fit together well in a band.
The Next member to come along was Paul. Now, I have known him for about 3 years prior to his recruitment. Paul and I were at the Christian Assembly church in Eagle Rock one Sunday, and happened to run into one another. I told him my plans to start a band and he was interested. Problem solved, he's a genius, and that is what we were missing.
Jerome answered my ad for a bass player, and when we met him, we knew right away he was a great fit. A good guy, and a great bassplayer, he was in, then out (because of school), and then back in. (Only to fall out 3 years later) We had a band, and the noise to commence was underwhelming, but everyone has the right to grow and get better. We called ourselves Life in Art...
2002-2003
The next big chance was a new name. Feeling that Life in Art was too of a Trust funder art school kids kind of a name, we opted for the name Twilight. Well, that did not work out too well, considering the fact that there are 3000 bands named twilight. The name stuck for a while but eventually we gave up the fight. We also lost Jerome at this point sadly.
Through the rest of 2003 we looked for a bass player. I could have started a web blog with the crazy things that ensued. I know it is stereotypical to call musicians flaky, but this proved it. I put out endless ads only to get people who lied about their age, did not show up, acted interested and then did not show up. Said the wanted to try out and then never called. It got to a point that I could only laugh, and ultimately just decided to play bass myself.
Present
That leaves us where we are now, the present. With me (Mark) on bass, Brett on drums, and Paul on guitar, we are movcing forward with new songs and a new album.
