Tasteful indeed.Band/artist history
After a career spanning nearly a decade Sharon Musgrave releases her first solo project, Selah an independent EP release on Zosar Records. Jude Kelly V.P of the Urban Music Association of Canada claims The title track is especially brilliant, a wonderful debut release from a rising star. Musgrave is no stranger to music professionals and music buyers acknowledging her wealth of talent.
In an interview with the Record Mirror in London UK, William Orbit the man who won a Grammy for Madonnas Ray of Light Album throws accolades Musgraves way stating. "I don't have to worry about playing live when I've got Musgrave on stage, because she's a consummate singer," William Orbit effuses. "No Worries. She's done it all before. The studio's my home, the stage is hers."
Together, Musgrave and Orbit made Bass-O-Matic a fixture at the top of the British dance scene. Having co-written the bands single Fascinating Rhythm and 4 other tracks on the bands album released on Virgin Records in 90s. Musgrave had the opportunity to front an international tour, encompassing promotional, radio and television work giving her the experience she is now utilizing in her solo career.
The same period found WEA requesting that Musgrave collaborate with artist Julian Joseph on his album The Language of Truth, re-recording the Curtis Mayfield track The Other Side Of Town. Exposure of the singles video lead to the appearance of Musgrave in a Teachers Whiskey commercial shown worldwide, filmed in black and white featuring Musgrave as a blues singer in a 60s bar scene singing, No Greater Love.
Invited to perform for artists such as Maxi Priest, Duran Duran, Simply Red and Mick Jagger who flew her to Paris for tour rehearsals Musgrave has performed with a gamete of artists.
The English born Canadian raised Musgrave having promoted herself in Japan, Australia, Canada and Europe has now embarked on a new artistic road, incorporating Rock, Jazz, Funk and Dance into a sound yet to be heard by the worldwide audience. Her single Selah from the self-released EP by the same name can be heard on Canadas CBC, Smooth Jazz 94.7 and Flow 93.7. A far more laid back Musgrave has been exposed on her new material which is in contrast to her catchy pop tunes and raw edged live show that her followers have come to know. Having been compared to the likes of greats such as Angi Stone, Macy Gray and Jill Scott, Musgrave is showing the world, that she is an artist that can write and perform the 360 degrees of music that very few musicians have ever been able to achieve.
Musgrave starts touring in June, accompanying the airing of the first music video Selah from the title track of her EP on the Bravo Channel . Audiences will be given the opportunity to experience Musgrave heading back to the international stage, and reveling in her strong, smooth, sultry passion for song.Have you performed in front of an audience? It's my favorite!
