i am Set-The-Marq. i rap to express myself in the form of verbal poetry; rap. rap needs a change, hip hop is dead. hopefully in my raps i can try to bring it back, even if only for 3 minutes at a time.by bringing new style, titer rhymes with stronger meanings, i hope to give hip hop the freshness and attraction that it first had when it was born. Money,cars,bitches are all temporary possessions-these are the topics that kill rap. Life is a much more effective tool to bring people's ears to music, wheter this be by showing past experiences, current struggles, or hopes for the future. These themes will prevail over what you hear on the radio and the artists that cover these issues will be everlasting, not limited to 5 weeks in people's minds or iPods. this is my illosophy.(Illosophy is also the rap group i am in, you will be properly introuduced once our album is finished...)Have you performed in front of an audience?i rap with my homiez whenever i feel like it. once the energy is there, we keep rapping 4 a while.i spit bars out of nowhere for people that havent heard me rap before, and it really comes as a shock. I love busting with other people as well, whether it be in front of a small crowd, homiez, or in the car.when u have ill rappers around you, you want to be viewed the same way.
Your musical influences
Tupac, BIG, Nas, all the true poets of rap. there arent many artists that can have such an impact as these Kings of rap have left on the hip-hop society. Snoop, Dre, NWA all that older rap is what drew me in to rap music, much love for them.As for today's modern lyricists, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, and Black Thought from The Roots are among my most wanted. Big Pun really put it down for us Latinos, and was one of the most talented rappers that wasn't given the credit he deserved, but his music lives on for me.Contact
