New School

Kelowna is a major Canadian tourist destination, in spite of being a rapidly advancing, upscale, metropolitan region, Kelowna up until just recently, had seen no urban musical talent emerge. Then suddenly, from the shadows of post-modern industrialization, came forth: The explosive debut of a prolific Hip Hop/ Rap group known as Secret Society. The rap group presently consists of two core members, Doug Crawford (A.K.A. Young Fresh... A.K.A. Bad Newz), and Aaron Loyie (A.K.A. Lucky Picks... A.K.A. Party Line). Secret Society has been together for roughly 7 years successfully making music throughout British Columbia, Canada and Washington State. In 1999, Secret Society marketed an independent album entitled Crucial Evidence." Two years later, Doug Crawford appeared on the AONN Records release, "Operation: Northwest Nationwide" with the famed Young Chile (A.K.A. YC1) a bond was then formed. Secret Society's underground album, "Crucial Evidence," had already been highly successful selling over 2,000 copies in a 16-month period with no major distributor. In late August 2001, Secret Society conceived and financed a major independent video entitled Lakeshore Craze which happens to appear on the group's upcoming, 2005 album, Dirty Associates As a result of such successes, Doug Crawford A.K.A. Young Fresh, entered into a groundbreaking, multinational business venture, becoming the A&R president of Secret Society Records Canada. In terms of current projects, the new album, "Dirty Assoicates" is scheduled to hit stores in 29 countries on spring, 2006 and will be distributed by the New York-based major distributor, The Orchard. Furthermore, Secret Society has performed and opened up across North America for acts such as Chingy, Mobb Deep, The Game, Ice-T, Too Short and E-40, Ludacris, Montell Jordan, Nina Sky, B2K and many more. Secret Society has done a considerable number of radio spots and live public performances including the PNE exhibition in Vancouver, which aired on CBC Canada and CTV television, and Summer Jam 2005 In Kelowna, B.C. The group chiefly operates out of Kelowna B.C., but also has another significant operational hub in the vicinity of Edmonton Alberta where you can find the newest addition to the record Label P-Scals. P-Scals Solo debut still untitled can be expected summer 2006. Audio recording for Secret Society release has taking place at various locations throughout the Northwest including Musico Studios in Kelowna, B.C. and Undercaste Entertainment in Seattle W.A. and Smashtbenz Studios in Edmonton Alberta. Much can be expected from this increasingly popular Hip Hop/ Rap group ensemble, which is quickly gaining worldwide Internet as well as offline fame and recognition.
