Kennedy drink problem sparks career crisis
Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy is battling to save his political future after revealing he has been battling a drink problem.
He has called a leadership election saying, “ish only fair the party shhhhhould be given a sshance to replash me after my frank admish…. admish …. admish admishance”, but he insisted he still wanted to lead the party.
But he could be dumped in a vote of no confidence in a matter of days - long before a leadership contest can get underway.
Two potential candidates - deputy leader Sir Menzies Campbell and home affairs spokesman Mark Oaten - were quick to get of Mr Kennedy’s way last night as he was seen heading for the gents with sick down his front.
But party president Simon Hughes - who was defeated by Mr Kennedy in the 1999 leadership election - said pointedly “I’m tired of him coming to my house and pissing on the carpet”

Soapstar SuperstarCilla is back
A brand new celebrity talent show is about to hit our screens and with a dazzling host of stars it is expected to be a ratings winner.
Fern Britton and Ben Shephard are presenting the new series Soapstar Superstar where ten popular soap stars showcase their musical talent to impress the judges and the viewing public.
Special guest Cilla Black is making her TV comeback by sitting on the judges panel - will she prove to be the female version of Mr Nasty Simon Cowell?
The soap stars will be battling it out in the gruelling knockout competition in a bid for the superstar crown.

Pete's a shambles
It has been reported that Pete Doherty's New Year's Eve bash wasn't at all rock'n'roll, but a bit of a shambles.
The problems began when Pete charged friends 10 each just to get into the bash- which was in his flat.
Once inside the North London pad guests had their shoes, mobiles and cameras confiscated.
The Babyshambles singer apparently wanted to keep the party a secret so he had guests ferried to his flat blindfolded so they didn't know where they were.
Maybe Pete was trying to impress ex girlfriend Kate Moss, who had allegedly dumped him due to his bad influence , but he certainly wasn't impressing guests at the party.
Most of Pete's pals didn't even get to see the new year in, they had all fled by just 10pm.
Reminds of me of Claxtons 03/04 party when he asked all the boys to remove their trousers and pants before entering.

and Don't Panic SCUD have several new songs in the pipeline. Two at least should be up in time for Christmas. They are quite different to the previous stuff, they push the boundaries and are musically dangerous. This change has been brought about by the timely departure of our lead guitarist The Airman, who although is decent enough chap restricted us both musically and socially. Now we've begun to spread our wings and saw gracefully too dizzy heights in much the same way a brick doesn't.
Hey, 'What's the Rush' is phenomenal. I love it. Could you write some stuff about its creation? I'd love to know all about that song. thanks and keep on truckin'
