Band/artist history
"Dream Of Consciousness" the first solo record from Scott Allan Knost is scheduled to be independently released April 1, 2006. Performed, engineered, and mixed solely by Knost, it promises listeners an intimate journal of love, loss, and the space between. After months of frustration trying to find the right players and funds necessary to record a polished and shiny disc, the singer/songwriter took a cue for from one of his heroes, John Mayer, and set out to record the c.d. with or without full production. "Just get the songs out there, the rest will come" Knost resolved. The resulting dichotomy between sparse, unplugged tracks and their lush and intricate counterparts actually further accentuated the mood and tone in which each particular entry was written and the evolution of the man that wrote them. Too hook-driven to be folk, too poignant to be be pop, the disc rebuffs any attempts to lump the tracks into one specific genre. "I really have very little to do with the emergence of a song" the songwriter confesses, "I just hold the pen. thats the only thing my heart will trust me with. Some times they come out Country, other times Rock, or Jazz, even Reggae, I just never know."
