Band/artist history
ROB N HOOD RECORDS Rob N Hood Records was established in 2002 by Jedi, CEO and founder. Beginning as a promotional mixtape based company, Jedi used this side door entry as a method to brand the Rob N Hood name. With over 200,000 mixtapes sold across the country and around the world, the mixtapes set a precedent of quality that the Rob N Hood name has become synonymous with. Popular mixtapes like Roc Season, Gangsta Shit 2003, The Show is Over, The Shakedown, the Respect the South series, Slow Bang series, R&B Relaxation series, and the 2004 classic Brooklyn: The Album We Never Got attracted the attention of the Southern Entertainment Awards, Justo’s Mixtape Awards, and MTV’s Mixtape Mondays. Becoming the only major successful mixtape DJ on the national level from Chicago, Jedi used this leverage to promote the emergence of Midwest music, including artists such as Twista, Kanye West, Bump J, and Rob N Hood’s very own Sani G. He also appears heavily in the 2005 mixtape documentary “Mixtape Inc.: The Movie.” But let it be known, Rob N Hood Records is not your typical one-dimensional independent record label. This multifaceted company has initially proclaimed to incorporate all genres of music into its triumph, regardless of its start in mainly hip hop. From R&B to rock, and mosh to gospel, Rob N Hood Records plans to do it all. So don’t be surprised if a collaboration with artists like Avril Lavigne or Garth Brooks are in the works. With an intuition for success and a “cannot lose” attitude, Jedi will definitely lead his company to the top.
