Quietude is a two member Hip Hop collective with poetic, jazzy, rhythm and blues roots. Their fresh interpretation of Hip Hop and Rnb is best described as a cocktail of their personalities brewed into a vibrant musical concoction that caters for the open minded, non-conformist lover of music as a whole.
Their sound at first is unassuming, but it takes mere moments for you to recognize their unique sound that expands the stereotypically boxed nature of Hip Hop and fluently bridges the gap between RnB, Pop and that afro-centric jazzy feel which is contrary to the traditional boom-bap sound.
There are no textbooks or classroom instructions that could help one balance the chemistry of their sound, however they insist that one can only discover them melodically as a diverse Hip Hop and Rnb group with a simple solution.Band/artist history
Their musical diversity sparked interests and secured them performances at Baseline(Newtown), Mzolis Place in Gugulethu (Cape Town), Bambatha Jazz Bar (Centurion), Capellos (Centurion), Shivava Café(Johannesburg); Aldos Lounge(Vosloorus); Evolokxion(Vosloo), Caprivi Jazz Bar(Tembisa), Papachilos Café(Tembisa), Chic Lounge Café(Tembisa) and an invite to perform at Momentum Aspires Passion Playa Awards Ceremony (March 2009).
Theyve worked with Brainwave Projects Production on their debut album titled The Arrival that was released on the 14th of December 2010 and are currently recording a mixtape titled Wyling Out with Goodline Records which is due for release late this year. Although new in the Music industry they managed to share the stage with the likes of Khuli Chana(2010 Hype Awards Best Song), Zubs(The Legendary Golden Mic holder), Last Days Fam (2010 Hype Awards Best Hip-hop group), Sake Of Skill (2008 Hype Awards Best Mixtape winners), Sliq Angel (2004 South African Music Awards Best New Comer Nominee), just to name a few.
Their song Time Travel produced by Blknght(aka Jab a Jaw) features on DJ Papercutts I Rep My City Mixtape volume 1, For The Love produced by Nyambz features on the Hype Sessions Volume 33 which came with the June/July issue of the Hype Magazine, and both songs are featured on the Hip Hop Kings Mixtape(Prelude) mixed by Dj Bling. Time Travel appeared on YFMs Hot99 it reached the number 5 spot before it was play listed, style and Mace featured on YFMs Hott99 it reached the number 7 spot and Never Grow Up went straight to the play list.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes we do. We perform at several establishements, festivals, clubs and events around South Africa depending on our Bookings. A special moment that I can think of right now was performing at Momentum Aspire's Award Ceremony, that was our first corporate event.
