Pray is S. DeGennaro. S. DeGennaro is Pray. Conceptually, it is heavily influenced by Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Marilyn Manson's "Antichrist Superstar", and Queen's early albums, with a fair degree of thematic continuity and little to no space between songs. Musically, it draws from a staggering variety of styles (see influences below).
I have been writing and recording my own music since I was 13 years old and have released 7 previous albums on my own record label. I am, in order of preference, chronology, and proficiency: a guitar player, a singer, a bass player, a drummer, and a really crappy keyboard player. I am also a professional audio engineer and the proud owner of a mobile project studio. This album was recorded in various bedrooms, bathrooms, basements, closets, and rehearsal studios in two different states on several different media over a period of six years. I am very proud of the way it has turned out, and would put it head to head, sound-quality-wise, with 90% of the music you hear recorded in million dollar studios... ...which is why I nearly wept when I had to turn them into shitty sounding mp3's. Believe me, the album itself sounds top-notch.
I sing with a band called that plays live in Austin, TX.
Pink Floyd. Queen. Green Day. Ani Di Franco. Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, anything else involving Mike Patton. Tool. A Perfect Circle. Radiohead. NIN. Dream Theater. Marilyn Manson. Mr. Show. Cave-in. Type O Negative. Hum.
The Screaming Yellow Ibanez (my one and only real guitar for the last 15 years). Pro Tools, Pro Tools, and more Pro Tools. Anything else I can beg, borrow, steal, rent, or build.
CD's are done. They are available for sale through soundclick for a mere $8. If you live in Austin, you can find it at Waterloo (under P) or come see play and I'll give you one for only $5.
