2006: The Plaza Noise Ensemble is sax trio (sax, bass and drums). We're very interested in improvisation as well as tightly arranged compositions. For example, we might start a set playing completely free and then go into our arrangement of Glassworks (a piece by Philip Glass).
Hunter Long plays saxophones, Jason Smith plays drums and Mike Moellman plays basses.Band/artist history
2006: We've been playing together roughly two years (since January '04). The three of us shared a common interest in playing free jazz, as well as somewhat obscure (ie: "non-standard") tunes. We've been steadily building our original repertoire since our inception.Have you performed in front of an audience?2006: We've been playing quite frequently at the Cup and Saucer.
