This is the world of Plaid Anxiety, a trio based out of Baltimore, MD with a new style of music unheard of until now. Plaid Anxiety combines uncommon styles of music together forming what they like to call "Industrial Grunge Pop". The electronic backbeats mixed with heavy synth and bluesy, grungey guitar riffs create the perfect background for the screaming melodic vocals. The Sound Of Plaid Is Coming...
Band/artist history
Formed in early 1994 by singer/keyboardist Ted Carroll and guitarist Adam Kussrow, "ANXIETY" began amature recordings of original songs by combining the uncommon styles of industrial electronica with blues and grunge to be backed with screaming, melodic vocals. They produced song after song, homemade album after album, and even played a few shows in their home town of Baltimore, MD. Due to their new & different sound, gigs were scarce, but the home recording continued over the years. The word "PLAID" was added to the front of the band's name to emphasize the crossing patterns of music.
Ted's influences consisted of modern industrial rock such as Nine Inch Nails and electronic pop such as Erasure, whereas Adam's influences focused more on the bluesy styles of Miles Davis and the distorted rock of Jimi Hendrix....even a bit of Nirvana's grunge fell in the loop at some point.
After recording a personal library of over 200 songs, PLAID ANXIETY recorded their first CD in early 1998 in The Nuthouse Recording Studio under engineer Joe "The Nut" Prahme. This debut, PLAIDITUDE, was a collection of the band's better material. Several other CD's were compiled shortly thereafter to create a 15-Disc "box set" entitled PLAID ANTHOLOGY, completing the library to one collection.
In late 2000, a young guitarist named Chuck Lamar was abducted into the band as a lead guitarist for live shows. His heavier influences including Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park were just the edge the band was looking for, and was soon added as a studio member as well.
Now in 2002, the trio called PLAID ANXIETY continues to work on new material and plan live shows as the warnings are constantly posted......
