Name's Phranchyze, Straight out the ATX that's Austin, Texas for you laymen. In hip-hop there tends to be the notion that everything belongs in a specific category. If you're from the south, you should sound like so-and-so and it's the same for most other places. My goal is to put a dent in that machine of thinking.Band/artist history
With the current state of Hip-Hop/Rap, when a new artist is heard there is an overwhelming tendency to put them in a box or category. Phranchyze hopes to blow up the box and bridge the gap between regions and styles. Born in Houston on 9/11 1984 to a writer and an accountant, Phran moved to Austin in 1986. Growing up in the “middle-middle” class of Austin’s south side, Phran didn’t even listen to hip/hop until he was 11. “I copped Outkast Atliens, and OGC Da Storm, and that shit was over.” He began penning his own lyrics in 1996 and never stopped. In 2000, Phran’s family uprooted to the Uber-suburb of Pflugerville, giving further fodder for his creative fire. “I hated it, everyone was so segregated and cookie-cutter, and if you were different no one excepted you.” In 2002 Phran hooked up with local producers N.I.P. and The Blacksmith and recorded a few tracks that didn’t make much noise except for the introspective banger “Horrible” which debuted on the mp3.com top 40. After laying low and battling for a couple years Mr. Phran is back with an LP entitled Passive/Aggressive and slated for release this spring, and his crew Shadowshyne’s album This is not Shadowshyne also due in spring which is under his producer Blacksmith’s,partner in rhyme K-Jakk’s, and his own imprint H.H.I.E.Have you performed in front of an audience?Haven't done a live show in a while.
