A Place to Call Home A Place to Call Home
Angry, bitter. Seriously? This is probably another one that will be re-recorded but it remains one of my favorites.

Fishtail Fishtail
Got an upbeat tempo. Very syncopated. Actually based around only 3 chords. There is a possibility of re-recording this song in the future.

Fishtail (version 2) Fishtail (version 2)
Same as the description for the original recording of Fishtail. This version was recorded differently.

Band/artist history
This venture began in 1999 but started out as an idea between guitarist/vocalist Anthony Nielsen and drummer Charles Cain in the 6th grade (circa 1995).
What do we sound like? I believe our music to be too diverse to compare to a certain band or genre. I'm also told that people need a better answer then that so I'll say we sound like Nirvana and Incubus attending a Judas Priest concert.
In terms of experience, Anthony Nielsen has been playing guitar since 1997 and Charles Cain has been playing drums since 1998. Our gigs have been few and scarce due to lack of a permanent line up. At one time, there had been 5 bass players in one month that came and basically couldn't commit. Now we've got a solid commitment from our childhood friend Nathaniel.
Just recently, around October of 2005, we obtained Jose (age 19) on guitar. So now we've got a full line-up. Now it becomes an issue of practice, practice, practice so that we can actually build a fan base and get some shows going.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I play live whenever possible. We've had shows scattered throughout the East Bay of San Francisco (more specifically, the Contra Costa County) I love playing live, it's a release of energy that builds up when I sit around all day studying for school.
A special moment i had was playing our first show in 2001 while we were known as Darkest of Days. I feel like I wasn't as good of a singer back then but it was magic as soon as we started playing. Everybody loved us and we got a little bit of recognition for it. It was a pretty obscure show so it didn't take us too far. Still, I'd have to say that nothing compares to that first live show.
Your musical influences
My influences span the past 50 years. In terms of mutual influences: Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Filter, Stone Temple Pilots, Deftones.
My other more specific influences: Judas Priest, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Pete., Dust for Life, Second Coming, Tool, Jane's Addiction, Chuck Berry, Faith No More, Ozzy Osbourne (with Randy Rhoads), etc. The list is too long. Can't forget about Ethel Merman...I love a parade.
What equipment do you use?
I've got too many pedals. I've got a distortion, delay, Digitech Whammy, wah, talk box. I can't remember what brands, i don't care to take a look right now. I'd love to get a ring modulator and a flanger in the near future.
Anything else?
There's a lot of bad music out there today that's glorified by the media and consumed by ignorant kids who think that THIS is what music is supposed to sound like and THIS is what should be popular. Some people compromise what they believe so that they can dissappear into the crowd. I'd like to believe that at the very least, Phosgene Factor is as real as it gets. Personally, fame and riches don't matter that much(it would be cool but my life doesn't revolve around that kind of mentality).
