theme for the project, present in some form in every piece in the Suite
The basic idea with this project is that the modern symphony orchestra should not be limited to instruments created in the 18th century. There is no reason an electric guitar could not fit in the string section, or a drumkit with the percussion. What I do NOT want to do is digress into the "rock band plays with an orchestra" cliche that has become so popular, with the orchestra playing bad keyboard parts behind the band. This project is about seamlessly integrating the instruments into a unified whole.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
So far no, but I've toyed with the idea of arranging the music for a 4-5 piece band, or a chamber orchestra (or both at the same time!)
Your musical influences
Composers like Rimski-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky, songwriters like Sting and the guys from King Crimson. Anyone willing to go out on a limb in the name of art.
What equipment do you use?
a 1998 laptop that does all I need it to do, plus a huge collection of percussion instruments from around the world, and whatever else I can get my hands on!
