PECCATUM is by many regarded as one of the most groundbreaking and uncompromising acts to emerge from the phenomenon that is Norwegian extreme metal. In executing their unique musical hybrid of metal, electronics and contemporary music, the band continues to draw out new sceneries of desolate and melancholic beauty. With their third full-length release, " Lost in Reverie ", PECCATUM push the envelope of musical crossbreeds even further. Blurring the lines of organic performances and electronics, they indulge you in delightfully bizarre sonic landscapes and set dark music in a new light.
PECCATUM was founded in 1998 by Ihsahn (Emperor, Thou Shalt Suffer), Ihriel (Star of Ash) and PZ (Source of Tide), and soon came to the attention of Candlelight Records (UK). Their debut " Strangling from Within " (1999) was followed by tours in Europe and North-America. The EP " Oh My Regrets " and the second full-length " Amor Fati " (2000) were supported by shows on the Mystic Art Festival ( Poland , 2000) and the Inferno Festival (Norway 2001).
It has now been four years since the release of " Amor Fati ", and the band is now back as a duo. PZ has left the band and devoted himself entirely to Source of Tide. Meanwhile, Ihsahn has written the last chapters of the legendary Emperor story, while Ihriel has released the highly acclaimed album " Iter.Viator " (Jester Records), and according to Kerrang!: "given women in extreme music a name by going it alone with her Star of Ash solo project".
" Lost in Reverie " was written over a period of one and a half years, and recorded and mixed at the duo's own creative playground, Symphonique Studio, capturing late-night moments and also session performances by jazz percussionist Knut Aalefjær. The album is set to be released on their own label Mnemosyne Productions in collaboration with Voices Music & Entertainment.
