Hard Rock

While You're Gone
I have been playing and singing for as long as I can remember, so I guess you could say music is as much a part of my life as the air that I breathe. I started in grade school like most of us did, and the music bug bit me hard. I had some great teachers in my youth who inspired me work hard at my craft. I joined my first rock band at age 15, and never looked back. I have played countless venues in both the US and Canada in my nearly three decades of impersonating a professional musician. I have been a member of several bands over the years. My latest project is a rock cover band called Watching Wendy, we play fun songs that folks can dance to. I still play acoustic sets as well with a few other great musicians, I play when I can, where I can.
Band/artist history
I joined my first band, Black Diamond, in 1980. Since then I have been a member of several groups including but not limited to; Vertically Blind, Argo, Silent Partner, The Elements, Grace Under Pressure, Oneco Road, Dharma, and Tucopeat, as well as many duo acts and single gigs. Presently I am the frontman for Watching Wendy, as well as several acoustic side projects.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes I do, any chance I get. I love to ham it up for the crowd, give them the best show I can. To I was playing in Sarasota one night at a local pub when in walked Brian Johnson(AC/DC). He hung out and checked out our set, after which were invited to his table to meet him and talk of music and such. It was a big thrill for us to have him in the audience that night, it was definitely one to remember!
Your musical influences
My Stepdad was a huge influence for me early on. I learned to play on his acoustic. I have very diverse musical tastes that range from Hard rock to Bluegrass and almost all genres in between. Not a big fan of modern country music or hip hop, a little too cookie-cutter for my tastes. I do though admire all musicians for their contribution to our art form, not matter what the genre, whether I like the music or not.
What equipment do you use?
I have 13 guitars, 4 of which are handmade custom solidbodies that I make in my shop, as well as a Dean bass with active electronics and several acoustics including a 1977 Martin D19 Fender solid top mandolin, Soveriegn mandolin banjo ( fronm the late 20's) HP computer with emu 0404 soundcard/ interface, Sonar, Cubase, Abelton, Cakewalk PTP, and many vst plugins for software.
