Paper Thin Dolls formed in early 2003, playing music just for fun under the name "Anywhere But Here"...after realizing they had an interesting sound and finding out another band had that name, they discarded the old name for something that wasn't taken.
They are a two-piece band, so naturally, this forces them to be innovative in how their instruments are played; Lane has a certian skill in making hers sound like a lead, rhythm, and bass guitar at the same time. They do add in other instruments by utilizing loop stations for live performances. They are currently working on a building a new body of work and awaiting studio time.
We are starting to book locally and in other cities with other bands.
Band influences include: Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Slint, Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine, My Friend the Atom, Mogwai, Sunny Day Real Estate, the Majik Markers, Elliott Smith, Bardo Pond.
But we are mainly influenced and driven by: noise, art, each other, feedback, the musical challenge of being a duo, vintage instruments, crowd response and the human condition.
