Kos, Dave, Bruce(our soundman) and myself decided that we should put together a three piece band out of The Barrelhouse Blues Band, PapaMojo is the result of that decision.
We played our first ever gig as a three piece at Europes biggest free blues festival The Dundee Blues Bonanza.
Band/artist history
Not many bands can claim to have played their debut gig at the biggest free Blues Event in Europe, but PapaMojo did just that at the Dundee Blues Bonanza.
Not only making their debut there but playing at one of the choicest venues in the event.
Such is the reputation of these guys that they were booked for the event unheard and unseen.
After the demise of the Legendary Barrelhouse Blues Band, the nucleus of that band Dave "Barrelhouse" Blair (Bass/ Vocals), Stefan "Kos" Kocemba (Guitar/ Slide Guitar/Vocals)
Billy "Blindman" Allardyce (Drums) and Bruce McKenzie (sound engineer) decided to put together PapaMojo a three piece Blues Band.
Where The Barrelhouse Blues Band had been a Five Piece "In your face" band, PapaMojo show a more subtle approach, showcasing Stefan's talents on Slide and Guitar and the uncanny intuition and rapport that exists between Stefan and Billy on Drums after a 43 year partnership.
This intuition coupled with the bass patterns laid down by Dave on Bass makes for a more
rhythmic exciting and infectious sound.
When these veterans of the Scottish Blues and Blues/Rock scene get going,
if your feet aren't tapping, You're Dead!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Live is the only way to play blues, you need that feedback from your band and the crowd.
