Thank you for viewing our page. We're still alive, we assure you.
Band/artist history
We were formed in 2000 during college, with me, Dabs and a classmate, Paul Alpez, and produced two cassette EPs: "Voices" and "Red Tape". He then left the band during the promotion of our EP, "Food Rock" in 2003. We drifted for a while, then i met Lubert and Ely at the old school. I asked them to join, and that's the lineup until now.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
When the schedule allows. We all loved the people at KAFE (Katipunan) summer 2003 though... God, we hope most crowds turn out like that.
Your musical influences
We all loved Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins--90s rock being what you would call our common ground. But we listen to anything: Dabs is the heavy metal dude, Lubert is the skank dude, me n Ely are the trippy sound geeks.
What equipment do you use?
anything goes, as long as it sounds different every time. I mainly use a Fender '79 strat, Lubert uses a red Gibson (or was it Epiphone?) Firebird, Ely uses a Fender P-Bass, and i think Dabs has/had a Premier drum kit--him being a Taylor Hawkins fan.
Anything else?
Formed in mid-2000, the Foo Fighters/Smashing Pumpkins-influenced band primarily performed originals at their very beginning, which culminated in a couple of independent cassette releases and the 9-track EP "Food Rock" in summer 2002, with original lineup consisting of Emmanuel "Daboy" De Leon on drums, Paul Alpez on bass and Clifford Jongko on guitar and vocal. Paul then left the band during "Food Rock" promotion. A new lineup then formed in late 2002, with Ely Alvarez on bass and Lubert Eudela on guitar. The band continued gigging intermittently until summer 2003, when they began production on their EP. The concept was to "make the densest record" they can make. During the sessions, before even recording his tracks, Daboy went on "vacation" and the remaining three continued work on what eventually became the "Short Order" EP. After mastering the EP, the band went on hiatus due to being unable to find a substitute drummer. Clifford, Ely and Lubert went to form Fun Army in 2006, which only lasted less than a year. During this time, Clifford also formed The Science Project with another Fun Army member, Henry Bacani. The band eventually broke up. Daboy and Lubert are currently working overseas, Ely plays session bass for local bands and Clifford plays guitar with Squeezers, a Taguig-based indie band. All Pancakes members communicate and collaborate remotely using the internet, and is working on at least two different releases within the next two years.
