Simon and Carolyn originally meet over 10 years ago when Simon joined a Black Metal band of which Carolyn was a member. In time the band broke up and the members got real jobs.
Out of Ashes was formed in 2002 when Carolyn and Simon bumped into each other in a bookstore of all places. The music is a mixture of Beauty and the Beast. There is still has a large black metal influence but has been toned down a lot.
