Already hailed as "NJ best Jam Band" One-Eyed Jack has delighted audiences with their musical talents for the last 8 years. Never compromising to the easy way out One-Eyed Jack has stuck by its guns and pushed forward in trying to achieve a reputation as an original act. An One-Eyed Jack concert is one of the best performances around. Wailing guitar solos, psychedelic gel light show and heart pounding percussion are only few of the highlights you get to experience. Live at the Lions Den, NYC has captured this unique quality. This CD is probably the closest you can come to an One-Eyed Jack show without being there. You can hear moments in this live performance that are derivative of some of the greatest jam bands; Santana, the Allman Brothers and Greatful Dead. Relix Magazine: This is an energetic set of bluesy rock with a Southern Rock slant. The band gets into some gritty grooves in the funky blues-rock grind of "Damn Temptation", which features some tenacious guitar work as does the Allman-Santana-ish "Disarrayed." Also notable is the sterling "Year of the Locust" from the group's last album Before Alone.
Band/artist history
Most of the band was formed out of after school or skipped school jam sessions. Mike, Garo and Danny would leave class for a day of off the wall trippin jams in Tony's basement. As time progressed and the jams turned into a working band the members seeked out another guitarist, Joe Boris who was born in NJ but spent most of his time in the South and on the Eastern Shores of MD. The final member the drummer, Alzie was always playing in bands that would be on the same bill as One-eyed Jack. Finally, fate would have it he was looking to join One-Eyed Jack as we were looking for a drummer willing to tour more frequently. The final lineup is doing great and has been the most powerful line up yet.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live anywhere. You got a place and a party we are there. We are a live act. Improvisation has provided us with some great moments and probably some bad one's. All in all we love a live show. The audience is a great energy and we love to feed off it. One-eyed Jack is currently touring in NJ, PA, NY, CT, MA, MD and DE. Venues change from month to month the web site and mailing list is the best way to keep up with the madness. Special moments..... breaking 5 strings at Wetlands, NY, Danny's bloody congas at Hartleys, we can't forget Danny embarrassing the Governor of NJ at one of our show to the point were she had to leave. or the black out at the Ricky Farm in Vernon, NJ ( I still don't think we blew the power out for the whole town, but rumor has it)
Your musical influences
Santana, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, T. Monk, Charlie Parker
What equipment do you use?
We paid for all our stuff and do not wish to sponcor any of those companies that made us pay exuberant amounts for all our equipment
Anything else?
Please support independent music. Do not give in to the Media and the hype it is producing. You are an individual capable of thinking what he or she feels good and sounds good don't get sucked into that brain dead zombie character the commercialized word is trying to produce.
