We are a gothic/doom/operatic metal band with female vocals, elements of progressive and influence of classic music.
"Best operatic voice" winner in vote-contest for best female vocals Metal Maiden 2004 among bands from ex-USSR countries (heavymusic.ru)Band/artist history
The history of Offertorium dates back to the August of 1998
Synopse. Amors Amor.
It was that moment of exhausting sun and summer dying slow, when four young men, striving to create, got together and planned to impress everyone with their ambitious project. The guys agreed Ulver's "Kveldssenger" to be their musical orientation.Although, copying or ripping-off wasn't the thing they had in mind. Own musical ideas were embodied very fast. That year's autumn saw the arrival of a very talented pianist Tatyana and keyboard player Karen (mastermind behind the legendary Witch Desire). The active period of searching for band's own style has begun.Very soon more new faces have joined the group and thus it transformed from a quartet to sextet.
The band's name dilemma - one of the biggest problems that a young group has to face, was solved after numerous searches and variants - A-mors Amor was the choice - latin for "immortal love". The name itself, as yet as the group's whole conceptual program, based on the medieval legends about Tristan and Isolda. The very first concert took place on 18th of October 1999 in Chisinau's Composer Union, where the audience was to judge 6 compositions from the set "Tristan and Isolda".
Breakthrough.
The key and breakthrough moment for the group was the year 2000.The line-up changes in the band lead to metamorphoses in the band's style and concept.
The new name Offertorium was reflecting precisely the shaping shift towards the baroque and romantism music in the band's repertoire. In short about the ethimology and the meaning - Most of us heard about Requiem - the funeral messa, dedicated to the memory of the gone ones. At its' base lies a latin poem "Sequentia" written by a fraciscan monk Tomas de Celano in the XIII-th century. The difference between Requiem and the ordinary catholic messa is in the absence of some parts (Gloria, Credo) instead of which some other were introduced - Offertorioum amongst the others. So it appears that Offertorium is a part of Requiem.
After one of the concerts the band was lucky to be auditioned by the famous director M.Sechkin from the Chisinau conservatory. He gave a high mark to what he heard and afterwards the band took several rehearsals under his conduction. His influence and effort to the group were beyond apreciation.
Stand-up.
In December of the year 2000, at the art-club "Chanson" a concert, which can be called the first for Offertorium, took place. Despite to the famous russian idiome, the show was a succes - the numerous public was presented with the set "Tristan and Isolda" and some of the new songs - a blend between dark folk and neoclassic.
After the year 2000, which was rich on events, 2001 turned out to be a lay-low period.
Most of the band members attended the Conservatiry and that was the cause of the catastrophic time lack.
The Conservatory was the place to meet new talented faces, which, joining the group, introduced new musical ideas and a breath of fresh air.But the rhytm section was still the weakest spot. Gladly, this problem was partly resolved with the arrival of Sregey in 2003.
By the 1-st of July 2003 the band's line-up finally took shape and represented a unified group, which was to be felt by those who came to Yellow Submarine on the 1-st of July.September of 2003 saw the departure of rhythm-gutarist Kinzyr. Andrey takes his place and with this line-up the bands gives a show in the some old Yellow Submarine in October of 2003, which was warmly recieved by the Chisinau audience.
2004 is the most successefull year for the band so far.But major flops occured - the february show with Chordewa an the april with Nocturnal Dominium and Chordewa were kindly visited by the SWAT-team, which initiated total control on the audience.Let it be the worst thing to remember.
After the successefull april show with Nocturnal Dominium, the band visits Kiev for the festival "54 tonns" which was held on the 4-th of June.It was the first show outside the Republic of Moldova and the impression was very positive. Kiev audience gladly accepted the unknown band from Chisinau.
Later on, Offertorium participates in "Extreme Vision Festival" which was held in Medjyboj, a small town near Hmelnitsk, on 22-24 of August. The stage was set near a huge astonishing XV-th century stronghold which created a special atmosphere.Leading bands from Ukraine participated in the festival.
And in the end of the summer - 27-28-th of August - the band visited Odessa, where the festival "Pikeinyie Jyletyi", dedicated to the memory of the Odessa's rock-club founder Gankevich, was held. This was, without any apraisals, the best show ever concerning the organisation and the level f the participants.Offertorium were very honoured to take the stage with the legendary "Komu Vnizz".
After a few days of comming back from Odessa rhythm-guitarist Andrey leaves the band and Maxim, which played in Metalepsis, takes his place.
12-th of September was the day when the demo-recording process finaly started. On the 18-th of September the bands participates in the Summer Dying Fest in the home town of Chisinau together with the Kiev-natives Firelake
and Ilyichovsk-based Awoken. That show was one of the best held in Chisinau.
In the beginning of November Official website (situated at www.offertorium.com) was opened.
At 13 of November 2004 presentation of the debut album "Ohne Dich" took place at the Yellow Submarine club in Chisinau. Presentation was supported by performance of friendly synth-goth / future pop band Personal Space. The presentation itself was a great success - 550 men came to the club that night, among them - the representatives of first-rate musical and gothic Internet-portals from Kiev, Odessa and Illitchevsk (Ukraine).
At a Christmas Eve - 24.12.2004 - Offetrorium visits revolutionary-orange Kiev, where takes part in Chosen 1 Birthday Party, sharing scene with top-level Ukrainian bands Scorn Age, GrimFaith, Inferno, Te Deum, Witch Hunter.
Year 2005 begun for Offertorium with participation in vote-contest for best female vocals “Metal Maiden 2004” on Russian heavy music dedicated website heavymusic.ru.Contest is also supported by Savage Music Club and "Live Photo" photostudio.
Offertorium is nominated for “best operatic vocal” and right now has all chances to win (voting will last ‘till April).
At 5-th of February 2005 “St. Agatha’s Night” party took place at Chisinau, Yellow Submarine club. Offertorium participated together with new for Moldavian doom scene band - Shadow’s Dreams Symphony.
This performance held a record of attendance at club lives - despite all the bad prognoses, audience was near 630 people, which fully enjoyed the bands’ performances.
At 14-th of Marc 2005 Offertorium will play at Chisinau Yellow Submarine club together with legendary Greek band Rotting Christ and their fellow countrymen Ravencult.
And also April tourdates for St.Petersburgh, Moscow and Illitchevsk are already confirme

Your musical influences
The source of inspiration for band is the medieval sacred music, in particular, music of an epoch of a baroque and early romanticism, and also creativity of German poets of the " Sturm und Drang " period is used for the band's lyrics.Anything else?
Band's line-up is rather unusual - 8 persons, 5 of which study in Chisinau conservatory (Academy of Arts), and girl that plays flute has entered in a conservatory of Florence (Italy) this summer.
Vocalist possesses quite rare type of a voice - a coloratura soprano - and already often acted as soloist at opera theatre and, without exaggeration, it would be right to say that she is the Hope of Moldavian opera. On recently past Delphy games she was awarded with one of prize-winning places.
