NV'D MCs

NV’D MCs (pronounced envied emcees) consists of two MCs born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. The two have known each other since preschool and thus are pretty much family. Their rap careers stem back to 5th grade where they had little to no knowledge of Hip-Hop in its true essence. During this time, the two rapped under the group “Cash Money” and spit what they knew, money talk. However, amongst the gunplay and jerk/swagger music of the current hip-hop scene, the duo has risen to the challenge to restore Hip-Hop to its roots. Their subject matter ranges from driving hoopties to present-day political and social issues.

The one with “the hair” of a duo, Rane (born Clifford Hughes) is the nerd in disguise. He enjoys building computers and video games in his free time. He aspires to be an engineer or a graphic designer. Rane has an obsession for football, his favorite sport. He plays tailback and cornerback for RHP and hopes to play at the collegiate level one day. Depending on the time of year, Rane will pick up his trusty skateboard and once again hone his tricks that he’ll soon forget but he loves the sport for the challenge and reward of being able to do something new.

The other half of the group, Els3vn (born Keith Morgan II), happens to be the artistic soul of the group. He hopes that his future will bring him a promising career in psycology; its safe to say that when reciting lyrics, they paint ink blots for the "listening patients". When he's not writing lyrics, or drawing, he masters his ninjutsu skills (he has a 2nd degree black belt), or he can be found tricking (flipping) or hanging out with friends.

The group is currently working on their first mixtape entitled “A Work In Progress” which is symbolic of Hip-Hop evolving but for the better. It features 11 tracks of quality music that is definitely worth a listen! The single “2008 Till Infinity” was a song based on summer and its cool breezes and this compliments the laid-back style. But NV’D MCs also caters to the more “rugged” listeners in a original manner. They strive to incorporate thoughts, feelings and real-life experiences into their art but never stray away from the imagination.

From the way they dress to the way they talk, it’s all NV’D and nothing less. Rane loves to thrift shop for gems whilst Els3vn has a more upscale look but the two styles incorporate to make a “collage of cool” which is their philosophy on the music they make.

The up-and-coming mixtapes from the group are working titles but are based on, a modern day Sherlock Holmes story through the use of the groups crimininal alter-ego’s Cash.Is.K and C-Note. The 3rd project in the works is “Doogley-D and the Downplays” and is the story of a loser made cool.
