We've been playing for just over 3 years now. Done a few gigs, the plantation café and at (the legendary) peaslake memorial hall oh yeah and loads at school. Currently working on remastering some old recordings we made a few years ago, so look out for updates! James
Band/artist history
no way off the roof have been officially around for 3 years. Unofficially we've been around for 5. We adopted the name 3 years ago because we needed a name to go on our tickets for a gig we were doing. The band started off in an english lesson in yr.8. Somehow the topic of the conversation turned to music and I said that I played the keyboard and Sean said he did a bit of drumming in his spare time and then Phil chipped in and said that he could play guitar a bit (he was also way better at piano than me, and still is for that matter) anyway I said we should try and play together sometime because they're looking for a band to play for prizegiving at our school. So we got together played some lame songs and the band was born. Ah ha! you say, where's the bass and the lead guitar? Well, we realised that we weren't really getting anywhere with my (limited) keyboard playing and Phil's single note bonanza on the guitar. Phil and I decided collectively to drop our instruments and get some proper ones. So I took up guitar (and have never looked back since) and Phil picked up the bass and the true no way off the roof was created. We quickly progressed, with all of us realising that something special was happening. We all gradually got better equipment, sean got more cymbals and Sean's dad kindly lent us (and still does) his PA for our sessions. We had the core three and we thought it would be cool if we had another singer or guitarist. So we enrolled Mr. Philip Bishop (who is now drummer for the great Missing Elf (www.soundclick.com/missingelf) He performed well. but there was something lacking, which was a shame because he was cool, anyway, we desperately needed another guitarist because my solo's were sounding weak without the backing of the chords so we enrolled the help of Mr. Tom Regan. He wasn't great at first, so we got rid of him. But now he's back! new and improved (but still with no amp!) and thats the story so far.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yeah we do, unfortunately not many people know about it! Plantation cafe last year in november was our last one. special moment for me was seeing a guy called Tim Saunders outside the cafe waving in through the window during our set cause he cudn't get a ticket. Oh yeah and some girls dancing to Barnabus ---thats one of our songs:-)
