With the core of Jake, aka Ruebin Church, (vocals, guitar), Travis (guitar), and Nathan (drums) in place since the summer of 2003, and the recent addition of Nick on bass, Norust (pronounced "NOR-ŭst") is ready to bring its brand of guitar-driven rock to the greater Cincinnati area and beyond.Band/artist history
Their name is pronounced /nor' ust/ and their sound is as unique as their name.
Norust - Jake Lillenstein (vocals/acoustic guitar), Travis Talbert (guitar) and Nathan Wagner (drums) - have been playing together since the summer of 2003. They recently added new bass player, Nick Vogelpohl.
Their sound has been compared to Pearl Jam, Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Lenny Kravitz, but their sound is most definitely their own. There's no predominant influence in their music - they take cues from everybody from John Lee Hooker to Bob Dylan to The Beatles to Blind Melon. Their songs are uncompromising, yet accessible. You can hear something very real, almost elemental, in their music, as if you discover a small truth of life every time you hear or see them.
The band puts everything on the line in their live shows, combining raw, honest emotion with expert musicianship for a potent one-two punch experience that lives on the edge of every moment. Their live performances have won them new fans both young and old with their integrity and classic approach to rock and roll.
