Sometimes a Great Notion Sometimes a Great Notion

Near 'song' structure. Heavy bass, female voice warped and tweaked, fluid beats... one of the favorite tracks of most so far.

IDM

Golden Hours Slip By Golden Hours Slip By

Thick haze, chill beats, ruminations from a wayside bucket drummer and another couple gents I sampled/spoke with in New Orleans.

IDM

Tears in Time Tears in Time

Yan Qin (chinese hammered dulcimer), fuzzy soft synth and samples of a woman singing korean folk music provide a warm, somber yet uplifting track.

Tomorrow is another Today Tomorrow is another Today

Acoustic guitar through filters, baptist preacher/choir samples, ethereal sounds and more. Another song to think/feel to.

Ambient

Temptation Temptation

Warm enveloping melody over syncopated beats creat a downtempo feel; aldous huxley samples minimally used to create images and feelings of temptation.

Ambient

Sad Music for Happy Humans is, at it's core, one person. Live shows can often make SMHH 20 or so people, thought not always. SMHH utilizes real instruments and digital ones in the studio, and occasionally live, although usually a Liva PA sort of setup is preferred. The sounds created are urgent ambient, in a sense... in that they are mellow/chill usually, yet intense and feeling. Think movie soundtrack crosses with IDM or somesuch, but with more love of melody. Band/artist history
Been around since aught four. Shifting from live guitar/keys/effects/drums, improv shows and some pop band even... Mr Nowhere decided it was time to put his vision forth. Studio dabbling for a couple of years occurred, a show, more studio dabbling, more shows, etc and so forth to '08... where he curates shows like the "human canvas project", opens for Egyptian Lover, and loads of other fun stuff. History is now.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Live can be fun, and it can be tedious. I most enjoy playing shows where it's more than just music (see "the human canvas project" at happyhumans.org for an example)... where the visual and auditory mix, usually with humans and/or video/etc to create something a little less mundane as an experience. Doing normal shows can be fun too, if people dance or bliss themselves out in nice fashions.
Your musical influences
Aphex Twin, Four Tet, Fridge, Legendary Pink Dots, Bardo Pond, Sublime, Gus Gus, King Black Acid, DJ Spooky, Radiohead, Portishead, Tricky, Oldominion... lots of other things.... world music, old jazz/blues, ragtime, gospel, funk, choral etc and so forth and beyond. I literally listen to everything.
What equipment do you use?
Everything from vocal samples/vocalists, to drum Machines, to samplers, to keyboards, to circuit bent electronics, to guitar, to yan qin, to dulcimer, to mandolin, to drums, to congos, to slide whistles, to harmonicas, to accordians, to glockenspiels, to crazy fx sounds eetc, old toys, zither, pedals, stomp boxes, to the digital box... you name it.
Anything else?
I said you name it.
