Band/artist history
Naughty Barnyard, a hip-hop funk group originally from Fremont, CA was formed in early 1999. They have recently remerged with a new lineup. The band has impressive credentials under its belt. They have appeared on the morning talk show Grappone on the Bone (107.7) and also opened for Fishbone and The Horny Toads (former Suicidal Tendencies members). The band complements each others unique styles while all members share the vocal duties. With a vast array of musical influences, the band touches many spectrums including Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz, and Funk. The band mixes their style well. Naughty Barnyard has three self-released demos. Naughty Barnyard 2000 Collectors Edition was their first which includes the songs "Handicapped" & "Hell Yeah". The Hip Hop track "High Times" was featured on BTBs Home DVD Pimpin Six Huns and "Against" premiered on a television commercial for a local pro skate shop, the Station. The second CD, Songs from the Green Room was made in 2001 and had a heavier approach with more of a rap/rock focus. The album includes the tracks "Let me down", "TBA", and "Minchia". The third and most recent CD, recorded and produced themselves, was created in the bands practice room. The self-titled CD came out in the summer of 2003 featuring the opening song "Insertion" followed by "Orange Peel" a good song that defines the groups style. The third track "5150" is a little heavier to the ear and is a mosh pit favorite at live shows. The fourth track "Captn Sav-A-Ho" with vocals by drummer Kory Botkin is self-explanatory by the songs title. The third album also includes the crowd favorite "Legs Wide Shut" a hip hop track written by guitarist Tony Parenzan. The lyrical content focuses on personal experiences with an Ex-girlfriend and Ex-band mate. The CD is concluded with an acoustic outro called "Withdrawal" accompanied by Ty Hardman (Bassist) on percussion's and additional vocals by Katie Barroso. The bands fourth CD is expected sometime in the New Year.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We love to play live, any chance we get really. There's nothing like connecting with a good crowd.
Your musical influences
We all like and listen to many different genres, Tony likes Hip-hop, Metal, Jazz and Funk, while Kory busts a whole lotta Hip-hop, Alt. Rock, Jazz, Funk, DnB, while I Dig on Reggae, Trip-hop, Ambient, Hip-hop and of course Funky Jazz. But we all meet in the middle, and appreciate all styles.
