Decaying Orbit is an experimental, unorthodox, highly diverse & genre-splitting band from Texas led by their infamous front man Mike Ash. "No, this music's not about that, it's not about sound quality, it's about passion." - Mike Ash. Decaying Orbit is produced by their label, Decaying Enterprises Productions and has released many studio albums since they formed in 2008, after the violent break up of the Psychedelic Rock band, Strangefire, of which Mike was the former front man. Decaying Orbit believes in unadulterated musical & creative freedom, Mike describes their music as a "cathartic purge" or "nervous break downs caught on tape.". The band believes that creating music is a sacred, spiritual and magical art form brought to them by the Muses, wraiths and demons hidden just beyond the veil between the worlds of the physical and spiritual realms. Decaying Orbit has traveled beyond the veil and into the realms of the spirits, only to reemerge, like a caterpillar from it's cocoon emerging as a beautiful butterfly, so does Decaying Orbit get reborn through the fire of their cacophonous tunage. The band believes in complete freedom of lifestyle, I.E. sexuality, religion, spirituality, drugs, manner of dress etc. They believe that music is an interstellar language that needs no translation to be understood by absolutely anyone. It's the passion behind the emotions found in the music that matters to Decaying Orbit, they believe that integrity is more important than fortune or fame. Story behind the song
I was so intensely drunk & stoned during the studio session for this song that I literally don't even remember recording it. I just happened to stumble upon this awesome lil' jam during the mix down of the Mike Ash album, "Gutz n' Gagz", released in 2001. My late best friend Woody compared this song to the later works of Pink Floyd, which I took as a high-compliment as he was a HUGE Pink Floyd fan!!! This has always been one of my all-time favorite songz that I have ever written/recorded. I am truly proud of this ethereal & surreal sound scape of it's ambient noize cacophony, it is a one of a kind, amazingly experimental & noisy, unorthodox, weird, strange lil' tune, filled with a passionate intensity that simply cannot be reproduced. a truly psychedelic master-piece of epic proportions!!!! The Mike Ash album, "Gutz n' Gagz" was released with absolutely no cover art what-so-ever, it was a small release due to me being a hard-core alcoholic and staying drunk all of the time. There were only a handful of copies of that record that were given out. All with hand-written song lists, like it was a mix tape or something LOL!!!! the album was actually pretty terrible lol!!! as I said before, I was a raging drunkard when that album was recorded, so the songs were REALLY, REALLY teethy, rough, raw and even more lo-fi than anything I had EVER done previously. Most of those tunes are lost in time, never to be heard again, but this jam made it through the years somehow unforgotten. it was also featured on the Mike Ash Collective CD, "Sloppiness Counts" & the Online Mike Ash Box Set, "Leading Up To Nothing" - this song is not as rare as some of the songs featured on this album, but it's one of my personal favorites as well as a listener fave, so I thought it should be featured!!!
