Decaying Orbit is an unorthodox, highly diverse & genre-splitting band from Texas led by their infamous front man Mike Ash.

Decaying Orbit is an experimental, unorthodox, highly diverse & genre-splitting band from Texas led by their infamous front man Mike Ash. "No, this music's not about that, it's not about sound quality, it's about passion." - Mike Ash. Decaying Orbit is produced by their label, Decaying Enterprises Productions and has released many studio albums since they formed in 2008, after the violent break up of the Psychedelic Rock band, Strangefire, of which Mike was the former front man. Decaying Orbit believes in unadulterated musical & creative freedom, Mike describes their music as a "cathartic purge" or "nervous break downs caught on tape.". The band believes that creating music is a sacred, spiritual and magical art form brought to them by the Muses, wraiths and demons hidden just beyond the veil between the worlds of the physical and spiritual realms. Decaying Orbit has traveled beyond the veil and into the realms of the spirits, only to reemerge, like a caterpillar from it's cocoon emerging as a beautiful butterfly, so does Decaying Orbit get reborn through the fire of their cacophonous tunage. The band believes in complete freedom of lifestyle, I.E. sexuality, religion, spirituality, drugs, manner of dress etc. They believe that music is an interstellar language that needs no translation to be understood by absolutely anyone. It's the passion behind the emotions found in the music that matters to Decaying Orbit, they believe that integrity is more important than fortune or fame. Story behind the song

this song was originally titled, "Barbiturate Breath Mint" & was released on the re-issue of the Mike Ash album, "Improv For The Birds" which was re-titled "Barbiturate Breath Mint" for the re-issue. The album, "Improv For The Birds" was recorded in 2004 & originally released on Decaying Enterprises in 2008. then the album was re-named & re-issued in 2015 under the title "Barbiturate Breath Mint", the new version featured songs that the original release did not. the other songs came from the S&M Studios sessions. half of "Barbiturate Breath Mint" was recorded at The Bouffant Ghetto Studios & the other half was recorded at S&M Studios, both parts were recorded in 2004. The lyrics to this tune just blow me away completely!!! They are probably some of my ALL-TIME favorite lyrics that I have EVER written. they are darkly sardonic, yet amusing & playful at the same time. musically it is quite choppy, experimental, teethy & just a tad unorthodox as well. it is  very spontaneous, manic and schizo in it's over all sound and atmosphere, I truly Love this song, it is one of my favorite jams I have ever written or recorded. I actually had forgotten about the songs I recorded at S&M Studios, they were forgotten and lost in time for almost eleven years until 2015 when I found an old S&M Studios demo CD entitled, "Duct Tape Is Better Than Mayonnaise" - THAT is when I found the other songs that are featured on the re-issue. it was actually really exciting, it was like seeing an old friend you haven't seen in a long, long time. I was so very stoked to find those tunes, it was really awesome, I almost didn't even listen to that demo CD because it was from the Strangefire days and I figured it was just old Strangefire demos, I was so pleasantly surprised when I heard the songs from "Improv For The Birds" that had been recorded eleven years ago at S&M Studios. so.... I hope you like this neato lil' ditty just as much as I do, it's a little crazy, but it'll grow on you like a fungus!!!!
