Story behind the song
This was one of my first songs written in 1971. It is also an early home recording effort around 1993 on cassette. I really wish I could re-do this especially the bass line.
Lyrics
I Will Seek That Which Was Lost (c) 1993 Jeff Conte (song written circa 1971) Verse 1: Once upon a time in a land called Eden Lived two people named Adam and Eve And they - had their freedom God said they could have Anything their hearts did please them, And he only asked one small thing That they would not eat Of the fruit of that tree (God said) Chorus: I will seek that which was lost Bring my sheep back to the flock I will seek that which was lost Bring my sheep back to the flock Verse2: Then Eve went and ate the fruit and So did Adam - And hid from God ashamed for they knew He had seen them - And God said they must leave the land called Eden For they had gone their own way And given up Their freedom (God said) (repeat chorus) Verse 3: So man and woman left the land and Had their children And all the children lived in sin and Cried for freedom And God from up in heaven Heard their cryin' And sent his only Son down To do the dyin' For the sins of all men (cuase God said) (repeat chorus) Verse 4: Now He's risen from the grave and Lives in heaven - And knocks upon your door and has the Key to Eden Open up the door and He will sit with you at dinner And give you back what you had lost He is the winner Of your freedom (cause God said) (repeat chorus, end)
