the great Joe Walsh track from 'The Warriors' - we've done it our way again (can't do it Joe's as he's too good a singer) Also off the 1979 Long Run Lp, really loved that time of my life!

some people get by with a little understanding, some people get by with a whole lot more..
think back to when the Rubettes smashed onto the scene with 'Sugar Baby Love' and pop music would never be the same again, kind of like an open invitation for ABBA to have it's wicked way...plus how the world seemed less complicated and more focussed on serious issues as opposed to Tik Tok or Instagram and if we don't think we've lost something we're crazy...but if we think it's coming back anytime soon then we are complete fools. Michael Keaton in a scene from 'Birdman' is here due to his brilliant acting abilities as well as the late great John Belushi...dig Mike & John, supreme talents for sure! can you still recall in the juke box hall when the music played and the world spun round to a brand new sound in those far off days.. in their blue suede shoes they would scream and shout as they sang the blues, let it all hang out.. rock and roll...

Story behind the song
It was originally recorded by Joe for 'The Warriors' the best 'gang' book/movie since 'The Cross & The Switchblade'...Don and Glenn must have liked it as it also made the cut for 'The Long Run' - we as kids loved it, who didn't like Joe Walsh - have wanted to cover this so many times and went back to an old mix I had couple of years back and added some more of Kath's vault pieces and tweaked a bit here and there and tried to polish the overall number up for this 2026 version. Love Joe, Love The Eagles!
Lyrics
Somewhere out on that horizon Out beyond the neon lights I know there must be somethin' better But there's nowhere else in sight It's survival in the city When you live from day to day City streets don't have much pity When you're down, that's where you'll stay In the city, oh, oh. In the city I was born here in the city With my back against the wall Nothing grows and life ain't very pretty No one's there to catch you when you fall Somewhere out on that horizon Far away from the neon sky I know there must be somethin' better And I can't stay another night In the city, oh, oh. In the city
