Simplistic
I just released my first solo album after two years of working on it. Also, I'm currently playing in the band National Road which is a four-piece acoustic outfit based in Frostburg, Maryland. Several members of the band contributed to the album.
Story behind the song
A song about a couple who can't seem to get along.
Lyrics
“Something, Anything”
Music & Lyrics by Eric J. Baker (2010)
CHORUS
Something, anything, better do something
Anything, something, let’s not fight
Something, everything, I’ll try anything
We gotta do something to make things right
We’ve been feuding for nearly a week
Ya don’t wanna touch, no, ya don’t wanna speak
Gotta tell ya, Babe, it’s lookin’ bleak
Just where do we go from here?
You keep sayin’ that I don’t pay attention
And my best friend is a bone of contention
Ya got so many gripes, so I’ll only mention a few
CHORUS
It’s been a week-long argument
Ya don’t wanna listen, ya don’t wanna bend
Gotta tell ya, Baby, I see no end
So, where do we go from here?
Your idea of attention is a peck on the cheek
And your friend’s been sleeping on our couch for a week
When ya act like a fool I get a mean-streak in me
CHORUS
INSTRUMENTAL
We’ve been married for ump-teen years
Cried through the laughs and laughed through the tears
What lies ahead is never clear
But I know that I’ll be with you
Baby, you’re the greatest, but I don’t always show it
I’ll love ya ‘til the end, and I know that you know it
Let’s get our act together ‘cause we don’t wanna blow it, oh Babe
CHORUS
