Story behind the song
My main inspiration. I met him twice in the 1960's and I thought he was a giant. I don't know if there is a song about him. If not, I think it's time there was.
Lyrics
Johnny Cash A miracle found in an Arkansas town and it didn’t seem much. Then the word got around that there was a new sound and the people were touched. And the clickety clack on every track, The simple rhythm that took you back, A long frock coat that cut his dash. Johnny Cash And he sang of the land and the outlaw bands and the Indian ways, Gospel songs to smooth the wrongs of his bad old days, The shoeshine boys who count their joys, The down and out no one employs, Folks in jail and the poor white trash Johnny Cash Instrumental It took him some time to walk the line when he couldn’t think straight. But he had a good woman that took a shine to his rambling ways. She carried him home to the Tennessee hills. She took his hurt and she took his pills, Hid his booze and buried his stash. Johnny Cash So fare the well the Ring of Fire and the Boy named Sue, Don’t Take Your Guns To Town and Folsom Prison Blues, And the clickety clack on every track. A simple rhythm from the man in black. The long frock coat that cut a dash. Johnny cash
