Story behind the song
I recently put together a DVD of some old film footage of family and realised that most of them had departed. I hope they know I still think of them. This is a remix, with Steve Vaughan on guitar.
Lyrics
Pages (words and music by Vic Arnold 2010) Remember when we first met your smile lit up the stage that I stood on. Squinting through the gloom I smiled back without knowing who I smiled upon, But somewhere, somehow in that darkened room I saw the light that shone my way, And afterwards I took your hand and we ran off to where our future lay. These memories of what is done. More of life behind us now than what has yet begun. These faded photographs, like autumn leaves, Of people long forgotten who hide between the pages of our dreams. (instrumental) See that nice house on the hill? Can it be the same that we moved in? Remember how it used to be before we fixed it up good way back then? We would watch the children grow. It seemed like only yesterday, And now you smile and close your eyes, I hold your hand and feel you slip away. These memories of what is done. More of life behind us now than what has not begun. Those faded photographs, like autumn leaves, Of people long forgotten who hide between the pages of our dreams.
