Sad song about 9-11-01. Smooth, melodic, and thought provoking.

Acoustic San Antonio duet/band, guitar/vocals/cello plays every kind of music like: rock, blues, punk, acoustic, pop, classical, and jazz.
We're a duet/band from San Antonio, Texas, that plays mostly our original stuff. The band is made up of Josh on cello, and Nick on vocals and guitar. The classical/rock approach is not new, but we offer it in a different light. Our music has everything from rock, punk, and folk influences to blues, classical, and pop. We are currently working on our first CD, Salad Days, which will be available in April/May.

Story behind the song
Originally, Daddy's Day was sung by a girl, and Nick and his best friend Will played a duet guitar part. Nick came across the lyrics in an email from an anonymous source, and then altered some of the words to create Daddy's Day. Eventually, it became one of DayBeforeNever's first and favorite songs, featuring Josh on cello in the background.
Lyrics
Her hair was up in a ponytail Her favorite dress with a bow Today was daddy’s day at school And she couldn’t wait to go There were daddies along the wall in back For everyone to meet One by one the teacher called Each student from their seat At last the teacher called her name Every child turned to stare Each of them were searching for A man who wasn’t there (and she said) Today is Daddy’s Day at school again And I’m sorry that he couldn’t come But if he could I know that he would be here now But heaven is just too far away You see he was a fireman And died just this past year When airplanes hit the towers and Taught Americans to fear And yesterday it was my daddy’s birthday But I didn’t get him anything So while he’s here and he is with us now My gift to him is sung way out loud
