Lyrics
THE WAR IS OVER © 2002 Ian Rushton & Virginia Parslow Verse 1: You’ve been battling an invisible enemy - shooting at ghosts that have long ago gone You’re so busy defending your terri’try - that you’ve lived without love for too long And the barricades that you place, to keep out the pain, are fencing you in Don’t you know - you’re fighting a one-man war, that nobody can win? Chorus: The war is over, Lay down your arms, you will not come to any harm The war is over, Lay down in my arms, you will not come to any harm Verse 2: Look around - there’s nobody fighting you, there’s only me here, and I am unarmed Look again - there’s only me standing here, no need to run away, no need to be alarmed Yes I know how scary it is, to lay down your weapons of doubt and fear But as long as you stay behind your barricades, ain’t no way I can ever get near Chorus: The war is over, Lay down your arms, you will not come to any harm The war is over, Lay down in my arms, you will not come to any harm
