Story behind the song
This song was written many years ago, but has gone through many changes. The lyrics have completely changed at least 5 times. The music is updated and refined a great deal since its original version written in the late seventies. It's now a flashback song about self discovery and facing an uncertain future.
Lyrics
Black Door -- Lyrics by Hembree It wasn't me I was looking for, trying to hide my face from the sun. A mission -- to explore. Dreams set sail towards the endless night, Looking for a hole in the sky. What lies beyond the other side? Oooh, through the black door. Aaaa, through the black door. Followed by our histories, Snapping at our heels in flight. Looking for a place to hide infinity. Like moths we're drawn into the glow. Ready to trade our pain. Shelter from the world we live in when it rains. Oooh, through the black door. Aaaa, through the black door. Speeding lights hypnotize, Dancing in the ice. Loving life, living lies, Lovers in disguise. Could this be a brand new Could this be a brand new day. Could this be a brand new Could this be a brand new day. Caffeine, bennie shakes, Nights blur into days. Slamming shots, and screaming breaks, Jimi singing Purple Haze. Could this be a brand new Could this be a brand new day. Could this be a brand new Could this be a brand new day.
