Upbeat jazz influenced rock. If you like the Dave Matthews band, Peter Gabriel, the Pat McGee Band and others, check us out
Mile Post Nine is a fusion of rock, jazz, and alternative. The band's music has been compared to groups and individuals such as Peter Gabriel, Dave Matthews Band and Toad the Wet Sprocket. The wide range of band members' influences (which include John Scofield, Charlie Parker, the Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews and Paul Simon) and the variety of instrumentation (drums, electric and acousitc guitar, bass, saxophone, and piano) along with strong vocal and instrumental harmonies have fans describing Mile Post Nine's original songs as intense and absorbing.
Mile Post Nine has played many large festival events and various well-known East Coast venues such as The Barns at Wolf Trap, Grape Street Pub, The Pit, The Wetlands Preserve, Alley Katz, The Brewery, Ruddertowne, and The Jewish Mother. They call the Washington DC area home and have regularly played such well-known local venues as Whitlows on Wilson, The State Theater, TT Reynold's, Clarendon Grill, Main Street USA, Rhodeside Grill and others.
Mile Post Nine has had the pleasure of recording their latest album, "drift," which was mixed by recording legend Mitch Easter (REM, wilco, Suzanne Vega) and co-produced by Ted Comerford (Virginia Coalition, Juniper Lane, Lucky Town).
Lead singer Marc Morchen recently recorded a solo EP with members of Virginia Coaltion and Juniper Lane. This too was co-produced by Ted Comerford and was recorded at Cue Recording Studio's Red Room.
