Story behind the song
A personal battle with the minions of greed, in the aftermath of the death of a loved one.
Lyrics
He Knew You Could Nathan L. Alston ~ June 4, 2010 What do you do when a loved one passes And you find it upon your plate, That you've been deemed the one, to whom responsibility passes As Executor of their estate With blinders removed, there's vision to reveal All that hadn't been seen before; The unmistakable truth, of how some people feel With their sights set on money - and more Their character flaws has truly come to light since greed has reared its ugly head, No shame to be felt, for it has taken flight By their focus on that monetary bread The familial masses now glued in alliance Are collaborating a difficult test, As they orchestrate their ways, of creating greater defiance But we know that your dad knew best You inherited his manner; his great common sense His no-nonsense attitude; his unwavering strength You inherited his position, of standing tall & proud No matter the opposition, or how large the crowd He knew that he could trust you, to see his wishes met And never once held any doubts, on feelings of regret. He knew that they would fight you, and try to run you down But that he could depend on you to keep on holding ground That is why he entrusted you, as Executor of his estate Knowing that you would not detract from one - and to yourself inflate, He saw in you the honesty; that you could pull it through And just like me It is easy to see That he thought the world of you Yes...He Knew You Could.
