Story behind the song
Odysseus is thanked for his intervention. He offers to take part of the funeral ritual, but Teucer declines this offer, and Odysseus exits. Teucer prays to the Gods, that those who wished Ajax dishonor be brought low. He calls upon Euryaces, to take his place by his father's side, and the body of Ajax is borne away to a place for funeral rites and cremation. Curtain. End of Opera.

Whoever now does not prize your heart, King Odysseus, lacks a soul!
Odysseus
I declare, Teucer, my friendship, and my wish to offer help with the funeral, to carry out piously, everything we esteem best.
Teucer
O noble Odysseus, - praise To your words! My patience was exhausted, and here, you were the only one to offer a hand, and not scoff spitefully, nor deprive our late commander with last honours! But, O son of Laertes, it would be better for you not to participate in the burial,- I fear it would be a burden to the deceased. I shall take care of everything else. Know, your happiness is dear to us.
Odysseus
I would have liked to have done more... but I shall not begin to raise objectionsa026. I leave.

Let the Father majestic on Olympus with Enialy, all remembering, and managing judgement with Truth, render harm for harm,- upon He, who wished to throw shame on the one who has died.
Chorus, (to audience)
Do not hope to become a prophet without experience, which teaches much. Unknowable are the futures of destiny.
Teucer, (to Euryaces)
You, my boy, touch a hand to your dear father, and in the process, the strong will Help me raise him....
