Cast Your Fate to the Wind
Mostly guitar instrumentals, with a blues / jazz tinge...
Story behind the song
"Cast your fate to the wind" was composed by Vince Guaraldi in 1963 as a jazz piece. However, I first became aware of the song as a child, by way of an old 45rpm single which belonged to my parents - an easy listening version of the song released in the United Kingdom by Sounds Orchestral in 1964.
In recording this I've certainly taken a few liberties with the song...I wanted to keep the easy listening feel I remembered from the Sounds Orchestral version, whilst improvising a guitar solo around the bridge. I don't normally record in a major key because a) I like music to sound gloomy and melancholy; and b) the major pentatonic scale always sounds far too 'country' to my ears...
