I am a solo singer/songwriter. My music is mostly soft although my songs could easily be performed in mostly any style.
For me, it's all about the song. That mysteriously magical thing that happens when a lyric is married to a melody. The writing process is invigorating and exciting while simultaneously being exasperating and difficult. It is that moment when music is being composed and a lyric is being written when I am truly the "artist at his easel." The creative process continues when the song is brought into the studio to be recorded because, as in writing, the production and arrangement processes also have their own sets of challenges. Those challenges are always dictated by the song itself and the task at hand at that moment is to be true to the song and carefully craft a recording that reflects what the song is about. Part three, for me, is to then take that song and perform it. It is the purest form of displaying this work of art called a song and is the only place where the magic of the creation is reflected back to me from a room full of interested listeners. And at that moment it is only as magical as the audience makes me believe it is. My CDs are all available on CDBaby.com.

Lyrics
Long story short they both survived She carried on and lived her life He nearly died but he's not the sort To make a long story short This is the house they both once owned After she left he lived alone That's when he wrote all of those songs To make a short story long A tourist in Music City Falls in love with the songs Broken lives seem strangely pretty Romanticized and fantasized Against the twilight skyline For a tourist in Music City This is the street they found him on Clinically dead but not quite gone And in his hand a note to the band To keep his name carried on Here in the house where he was born His ghost has been seen by those who've sworn He held a guitar and shined like a star With a face forlorn A tourist in Music City Falls in love with the songs Broken lives seem strangely pretty Romanticized and fantasized Against the twilight skyline For a tourist in Music City You may have read his authorized biography You may have seen the mini series on TV And to his fans He's everything they want a star to be A tourist in Music City Falls in love with the songs Broken lives seem strangely pretty Romanticized and fantasized Against the twilight skyline For a tourist in Music City

Such a BEAUTIFUL song, Larry, "A Tourist In Music City". I LOVE your lyric, you have captured the essence ... Your guitar/vocal, the strings, the lightness of the piano capture and express your thoughts and mood. So very beautiful, Larry. "Broken lives, strangely pretty ..."
