Mettaya = Nirvana X Metallica / Black Sabbath
Mettaya is all about new music from familiar origins. While the ingredients are common, it's the care in their proportion and seasoning that makes the dish so tasty. Heavy metal used to it's highest purpose, no pun intended. A rethinking of what heavy music is, was, and could be, daring to tread where few 'heavy' musicians would even be caught dead thinking about. Mettaya is the 'heavy' sister band to Radiosmack, also Dan fronted and lead, the no-holds-barred counterpoint to the 'lighter' (ish) Rock/Traditional sounds of that band. You may just like both!

Story behind the song
This song was another in my line of songs written in my dead/dying Honda, back in Long Island right after Katrina hit (I wasn't in it, can't front on something like that). Kind of the acid metal flip side to On My Own.
Lyrics
Out of the blue, tripped through the womb Only to find myself trapped within this tomb Five minutes of forever, it's all the same As I beg Coronzon to take away the pain (Pre Chorus) Look in the mirror, do you recognize the face? Take a look around, can you name this place? Step through the door to the ancient hall Where humans are machines and gods are paper dolls (Chorus) One day you'll let go of the fear And just be right now, right here No relief from a burden, weighed in tons No shade from a blistering sun I open up my ears and look into your eyes But as I recognize my face I recognize my lies I look into the heart to see if I'm there As the verdict comes in: "don't know, don't care" Look in the mirror, do you recognize the face? Take a look around, can you name this place? Step through the door to the ancient hall Where humans are machines and gods are paper dolls One day you will let go of the fear And just be right now, right here No relief from a burden weighed in tons No shade from a blistering sun Someone told me I died about a month ago And all I could say was 'Yeah? So?' For those who will never dare the abyss I've come back to show you what you've missed
