Story behind the song
Jesus said that we are the LIGHT OF THE WORLD... he went on to say that no one lights a lamp and sticks it under a basket (implied = "that would be stupid!"). No... when we light a lamp--we put it up in a VISIBLE place--so that EVERYONE can see it, and benefit from it's light... THAT is a description of the kind of lives we are called to live as followers of Christ... and THAT, is what this song is all about.
