Story behind the song
Sub-prophet that I am in 1995 I could see that a certain demographic was going to get their hackles raised in the semi-near future and imagined what issues would invoke them to raise the old standard, and so, in sub-anthem style penned this ditty ahead of schedule. Me on vocals and guitar, Tony K. on drums, my cousin Brady on bass and some dude's name I can't remember my cousin knew added the spiffy twangy lead guitar..... Every time now I see the Tea Party rallies and traditionalist protests...with the Don't Tread On Me flag prominent ... I think of this song I wrote for just such an occasion. Too bad nobody's heard it. It should be playing on the loudspeaker at the outset of every such gathering--my gift to that particular crowd. I'm all for diversity. Including that bunch. Why doesn't someone help get this song to them thar folk who care 'bout such things? Eh? C'mon . . . lend a brutha a hand . . . . .
