Stand Up America
By: Catherine Beach & Ned Albright
Once upon a time we could prosper in this land
Start a little family and make a simple plan.
Now it seems so hard to get through each and every day
That great American dream has slowly slipped away.
Step one step two step three
What do we really need?
Step two step three step four
Do we really need another war?
What are we diein' for?
There's a battle raging for every working man
Just to feed his family he fights every way he can
So what do we tell the soldiers who sacrificed each day?
When they come home with problems that just won’t go away
Step one step two step three
What do we really need?
Step two step three step four
Do we really need another war?
What are we diein' for?
Stand up America!
Stand up America!
I ask you. What are we diein' for?
All around the world people are pretty much the same
Slightly different faces slightly different names
So why are we fighting when we all want the same damn thing
Why won't the ones who lead join us when we sing?
Step one step two step three
What do we really need?
Step two step three step four
Do we really need another war?
What are we diein' for?
Step one step two step three
What do we really need?
Step two step three step four
Do we really need another war?
