Lyrics
Soldier On
© 2010
Looking at my sweet baby in my arms,
there's something with his eyes, makes an alarm ring deep inside
I'm banging pans jumping sideways what does he see
will he ever be able to speak to me
They say he's special needs
he will need therapies
the uncertainty of his future challenges me
My oldest son now he was an amazing one,
only seven, telling jokes and oh so handsome, he charmed everyone
well he passed out and I took him to emergency
the doctor said he needed to speak to me
he's too sick for recovery
say goodbye to your baby
this sadness for his future just might break me
(chorus)
But I'll Soldier On
Whatever my children need to help them through to help them to succeed
I'll give them all of me until I bleed
for no matter how long
I'll try to be strong..........I am strong
so I'll soldier on.
At the funeral I stood up straight and tall,
folks filed by said my attitude helped them all, I was so brave
they admired all of the time I gave
for the fight I waged, I was praised
the money I had raised
my son it didn't save
how can I not go with him to the grave
(chorus)
But I'll Soldier On
Whatever my children need to help them through to help them to succeed
I'll give them all of me until I bleed
for no matter how long
I'll try to be strong..........I am strong
so I'll soldier on.
