Story behind the song
During a demo session of the Roland V-Piano I played this "virtual piano". The experience was positive.
The V-piano works fundamentally different as compared to the "convential" sampling digital piano's. Sounds are created using a physical model of a real piano. Special hardware, software and an innovative keyboard are develloped to have the piano sound calculated and synthesized using the physical model. Piano configurations can be defined even beyond the capabilities of a real piano (e.g. piano of 10m length, silver strings, glass soundboard, etc....). During playing the player can control divers parameters in real-time (e.g. with pedals), giving new interactive responses.
Within 15 min of playing only very limited experiences can be obtained. Nevertheless, the sound and "feel" is very close to a real piano. But the real challenge will be to explore the music capabilities beyond any existing acoustic piano setting.
