John Curtis is a Singer/Songwriter that started his musical adventures in the hip hop genre. Being a musical person by nature he decided one day to pick up and
After nearly 10 years of hip hop John Curtis dropped the alias Tequnique and turned to the other genres in his quest to quench his musical thirst. John is at home with an instrument in his hands. He seems to have the ability to use any mode of making sound after only a short bit of practice. He approaches music one song at a time giving him the ability to learn to play by ear and what sounds good rather than mastering the technical aspect. Since music is best played with soul and not robotic fingering this approach seems to keep his music sounding very grass roots and origional. To putit into metaphore John Curtis is a small brush fire waiting for that strong gust of wind to expand his existance. Only time will tell what is made of this young budding artist.

Story behind the song
This is the third song I recorded with strictly acoustic guitar and my voice. Not knowing how to play the thing at all I started smashing the strings until I came up with this. Now I can play but I can't for the life of me figure out exactly how i did this one. Anyway this song is about the sceptics and critics of my music and how they were simply being negative. All I have to say to them is Rover, come on over.

My new west coast friend, I think this is a great tune. I love the real in the lyrics, and that's important I think (write what you know). I have a good friend called Fresh I.E. (Juno nominated rap/R&B artist) who I think would love this. I'll send him a note to check it out. Later dude!
