A man like me.
Lyrics
MAN LIKE ME VERSE 1: I was eight years old, listening to the radio When I first felt my feet slide on the floor Just a country song But it wasna€™t all that long Both those feet slid right on out the door VERSE 2: Sometimes I wonder why But you know that mama tried To keep me on the narrow and the straight But I could see the stars And I could hear guitars So I popped the locks and busted out the gate CHORUS 1: Mama could you love a child Whoa€™d tear his hand from one so mild And run away forsaking all your pleas A boy that maybe you cana€™t trust A kid who might be dangerous Momma, could you love a child like me? VERSE 3: Further down the line when I met a girl so fine I felt my feet lift right up off the ground Together through the years The laughter and the fears But still somehow I wonder where Ia€™m bound CHORUS 2: Babe, how do you love a guy Who always makes you wonder why Someone who wants your love to set him free Someone who would blind himself So he cana€™t see he needs your help Babe, how do you love a man like me? BRIDGE: All these years I been keeping time While the wheels roll and the whistle whines Sitting here with a guitar on my knee I aina€™t the president or a CEO But Ia€™m pulling strings in the way I know Ita€™s OK as long as you stay with me VERSE 4: Therea€™s a spot up on the hill That overlooks the fields You see where youa€™ve been and where youa€™re gonna go They say that after all, everything that flies will fall Therea€™s just one thing that I have yet to know CHORUS 3: Father, can you love your sons Now that you know what they have done For bags of gold and a life of ease Yeah, can you love the ones Who turn away from thee Jesus, can you love a man like me? Momma, can you love this child Baby, can you love this guy Can you love a man like me?
